Yes. His trap design was... well, frankly it was laughable. If I had not walked into it directly, he wouldn't have caught me at all.
[more nodding, more writing. This is all very good information! He hadn't heard anything about a 'God' from Rean..] Sounds like some strange fanaticism to me. [he tilts his head with a sympathetic smile] I see... there was a cleaver missing... did he use that? Or simply the wolf's claws and fangs?
My theory is that it was for... well. The gross-out factor. You are an innocent, well-liked boy. Seeing your body in that condition would be psychological warfare. [he shakes his head] I don't understand, though. The Jorogumo was definitely feeding on my body. It seems like yours was just mutilated.
So! The Apprentice -- Kurosaki Ichigo. When I died, I found him and he was quite injured. As it turns out, he had tried to take on the Bargest himself. The beast is incredibly fast, and inflicted wounds on Kurosaki before fleeing. I took Kurosaki into my body to heal him, but it seems the wolf beast left being many pieces of its soul energy in the wounds. I was unable to digest it, so I had hoped to just... expunge it. But when I did that... ah... a puppy happened, instead.
[he pushes his glasses up with a serene and knowing smile]
I'll dumb it down for you, dear boy. Kurosaki was injured by the Barghest. I healed him. In doing so, I absorbed the tiny bits of itself the Barghest left behind. Those bits combined with parts of me and Kurosaki and became a puppy.
I asked. They won't give it to me. [pout] But Mr. Nanase, rest assured; I do not intend to spend the rest of eternity in the belly of this strange, hotel-shaped beast. I will escape -- but I must unlock the secrets of this place first.
[mmmm.... Szayel takes a moment to compose himself and... think about how he's going to say this] Mr. Nanase. I... understand that you are traumatized by what happened to you. [a pause] That said, the newborn barghest is too valuable a specimen to simply destroy. I promise to keep it away from you.
Is the puppy dangerous? The newborn, three pound, can't even reliably change between spirit and physical forms baby wolf? [he says it with all the condescension one might expect] No. The only reason that it was able to feed on your body at all is because the adult allowed it to. If the puppy weren't here, the barghest would simply feed itself instead. The adult will kill, no matter what, and there isn't much I can do to stop it.
[he sighs and pushes up his glasses]
However. I will do my best to keep it in my room on Thursday nights.

I couldn't really tell? He mostly thought my eyes would be a good sacrifice to it. Sorry, we were mostly talking about whether or not I was garbage.
[DERAILED BY SHITTY SELF-ESTEEM.]
After I tried to stun him, he turned into a wolf and attacked me. The first was... cutting open my abdomen. After that, he took my eyes.
[He's a bit more blank here, reciting the events.]

why]
He talked about my eyes a lot, so I'm guessing that's what it ate the most of.

[His death is- fine. It happened, and as he knew, he was useless to the very end. And that's fine.
But allowing the same fate to befall someone else? No. That cannot be permitted.]
